The corona virus has left a large dent in the pockets of small and large businesses. Businesses that were mostly affected were small local businesses that are also viewed as the pillars of the community. An outreach programme for township and rural entrepreneurs was hosted at Block F Soshanguve by the Small Enterprise Development Agency (SEDA).
Caren
Coetzee Tshwane SEDA branch manager mentioned that the aim of the programme is
to ensure that small local enterprises are able and willing to contribute
towards creating and maintaining equitable economic and social development,
which consists largely of wealth creation and employment opportunities for the
youth. “The purpose is to create a system where money can circulate longer in
townships and rural areas, this
programme is also designed to create a development impact in these places.”
said Coetzee.
Coetzee said “One major problem we face is
getting the message out there for people to know there is assistance for them.
We are aware there are a lot of requirements in terms of getting funding.”
Coetzee also mentioned that the purpose of their work shop is to make
entrepreneurs aware of funding opportunities that are afforded to small
businesses and start-up ventures.

think they will help me in terms of managing my business,” said Ndlovu.
Lethabo Sithole a young aspiring entrepreneur said " I appreciate the initiative taken by SEDA to come and talk to us today, but I still have questions that need answering regarding how and where a young entrepreneur like myself can find equipment and resources."
